Huntsville, Ala. (December 29, 1999) - HiWAAY Information Services is pleased to announce
its installation of a new state-of-the-art, back-up power generator that will be used to support
HiWAAY's growing customer base. According to Chief Technical Officer, Mark Derrick, "This
new generator will help us position HiWAAY for the growth in the upcoming year."
Previously, a 70 KVA generator supported only network operations at HiWAAY headquarters
in Huntsville, Ala. With the new generator, HiWAAY has increased its capacity to 400 KVA,
which allows HiWAAY to support all corporate facilities, run continuously for three days in the
event of power loss, as well as provide additional capacity for growth. Derrick said, "With this
generator, we are providing our customers with a safeguard in case of a power failure. Now we
are not only supporting our network operations center, but also our technical support
department and administrative offices with generator-backup power to withstand an extended
utility power outage."
Derrick said the new generator was installed and tested this morning and is now fully operational.
"Providing our customers with new and improved services and equipment is a priority at
HiWAAY. This generator is just one of the steps we are taking to meet our customers'
expectations for a mission-critical Internet service," he said.
